Aomori Prefectural Government
In the prefectural government, there is an executive branch and a legislative branch.
Within the legislative branch there is a prefectural assembly composed of members elected by the citizens of the prefecture.
The prefectural assembly decides important policies like the budget and prefectural regulations.
The executive branch includes the prefectural governor's office and various other administrative committees.
They work in accordance with the policies decided by the prefectural assembly.
Prefectural Assembly
The prefectural assembly (quorum of 51) is unicameral and composed of members elected every 4 years by the citizens of the prefecture.
The assembly holds regular sessions 4 times a year (June, September, November, February), as well as special sessions.
Prefectural Governor's Office
The prefectural governor is elected by the citizens of the prefecture every 4 years.
The governor works according to the policies decided by the prefectural assembly. In order to help governor, there are two deputy governors and several other support organizations under them.
There are also organizations throughout the prefecture which perform regional specialized work.

Administrative Committees
Various administrative committees have also been independently established in order to ensure democratic public administration practices.
The administrative committees are composed of the representatives of the citizens of the prefecture and also have their own respective secretariats.
